Case Study: Off-Grid Solar System in Rural Tasmania

This case study covers the replacement of an aging off-grid solar system in the Huon Valley, Tasmania. Expert Energy Tasmania provided a 13 kW system with battery storage, improving reliability and reducing the client's reliance on diesel generators in a remote location.

Project Description

Supply and installation of an off-grid solar power system to replace a 13 year old dying system.

Client Objective

To provide reliable and sustainable energy for the Home by replacing a system at the end of its operating life while minimising environmental impact.

  • Remote location with existing infrastructure that needed to be uninstalled.
  • The client had recently purchased the home and was regularly running out of power.
  • Harsh weather conditions.
  • Need for a system that is efficient and reliable.

Expert Energy Tasmania (EET) designed and installed an off grid solar power system that met the client's needs. The system includes:

  • 13kW solar array with 440w Phono Helios panels with a 30 year warranty
  • 16kWh of BYD Lithium battery storage with 10 year warranties
  • 1 x German Sunny Island 8.0 off-grid Inverter with 10 year warranty
  • Backup generator
