EV Charger Installation in Hobart

More drivers across Hobart and Southern Tasmania are switching to electric every year, swapping the bowser for the wall socket, and tapping into Tasmania’s mostly renewable grid. A dedicated home charger turns that switch into a proper everyday upgrade with faster top-ups, safer wiring, and the freedom to skip the queue at public chargers around the CBD and Sandy Bay.

Expert Energy Tasmania installs smart EV chargers right across Hobart and Tasmania, helping local households charge their electric vehicles overnight while keeping more money in their pockets each month.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Once again EET have performed exceptionally well in a professional and efficient manner. They installed my initial system 5 years ago so therefore were at the top of the list for the expansion of my solar and battery installation. They were helpful and informative at all stages. I highly reccomend Expert Energy Tasmania.

Professional work, friendly team, and good price. The team did a great job with my floor mounted heat pump, replacing an old unit. The quote was timely, I was updated by the team as needed and installation was professional. Would highly recommend.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Expert Energy Tasmania are the most professional company I have across in ages. The whole process was stress free. Attention to detail and great to deal with. Max visited the property and gave a well reasoned quote. Dan installed and fine tuned the split array which has proven to be very productive. Dan and his team worked quietly and efficiently. Follow up by the office and Dixon stopping by just awesome. Overall a most professional company and very nice people. And the solar system has produced magnificently. Highly recommended.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Expert Electrical installed an 8kW solar plus battery system for us in southern Tasmania. I chose them after thorough research and have found the whole experience exemplary. The customer service has been excellent and the system itself is a ripper. Highly recommended.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Expert Electrical provided a well put together quote for three different system sizes and configurations. I was able to then choose the best one for my situation. The team were well organised and had it installed and up and running in 2 days. I’d definitely recommend them!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Prior to having systems installed on two properties considerable time was spent researching options and providers.
In the end Expert Energy was chosen for many reasons including but not limited to the fact that they were a local small to medium Tasmanian business employing local tradesmen and admin staff.
They managed the whole process from quoting, site inspections and installation.
The install was completed on both properties as scheduled and within the allocated time frames.
All components from the panels, inverter and batteries are high quality.
The on-site installers were extremely helpful, professional and left the properties in a very clean and tidy condition with the actual install completed to an exceptionally high standard.
All interactions from the initial meeting with Scott, the admin staff, Katelyn and Tabytha, the install crew and Cameron (IT) have been easy with nothing being a problem.
The systems are operating faultlessly with the app making monitoring simple.
I highly recommend that anyone considering a solar and/or a solar/battery system give Expert Energy the opportunity to assist as all aspects of their products and service have been exemplary.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Expert Energy installed 30 new panels on an extremely difficult roof of various levels. Two batteries and inverters. The installers and electricians were brilliant, going above and beyond our expectations (thank you Tasman and Fraser). Sales and administration teams were very professional with ongoing support for software queries for new users. The system is working really well. Very happy with the whole team.

What is a Home EV Charger and Why Should You Consider EV Charger Installation?

A regular powerpoint will technically charge an EV, but it does the job slowly and isn’t built for the kind of sustained load an electric car pulls overnight. A wall-mounted charger fitted by a licensed Tasmanian electrician hardwires straight into your switchboard and pushes power to your car several times faster, without stressing your home wiring. EV charger installation involves assessing your home’s electrical capacity, upgrading the switchboard if needed, mounting the charger unit, and configuring it for safe, compliant operation. The result is a charging setup that’s faster, safer, and purpose-built for daily use.

Faster charging

An EV wall charger powers your car several times faster than a wall socket, so you’re back across the Tasman Bridge before the morning traffic builds.

Convenience

Plug in once you’re home from the city, charge while you sleep, and skip the hunt for a free bay at Salamanca or the Glenorchy public chargers.

Lower running costs

Home charging is typically far cheaper than public charging stations, especially when combined with off-peak electricity rates or solar energy.

Solar integration

Smart chargers can prioritise solar energy for EV charging, reducing grid electricity use and lowering your overall energy costs.

Why Install a Home EV Charger?

Public charging networks across Tasmania are growing, but they still come with patchy availability, premium per-kWh pricing, and the hassle of building your week around someone else’s bay. A home EV charger installation takes all of that off the table.

You pull into the driveway, plug in, and wake up to a full battery. For households running rooftop solar, the math gets even better, because your car runs on energy your own roof made earlier in the day. That means daily commutes from Howrah, Kingston, or Bellerive cost next to nothing.

Professional installation also keeps everything compliant with Australian electrical safety standards, with proper load management so your switchboard isn’t pushed past what it was built for.

Get More From Your Solar Panels with an EV Charger Home Installation

Hobart’s solar uptake has climbed steadily over the past decade, and pairing panels with an EV is one of the smartest ways to make a rooftop system pay for itself faster. When your charger talks to your solar inverter, your car effectively becomes a rolling battery for the energy your house generates each day.

Smart EV chargers let you draw directly from solar, lift your self-consumption, cut what you import from the grid, and bring your overall EV charging costs right down. For plenty of Hobart households, that means daily driving across Greater Hobart is powered almost entirely by their own roof.

Higher-end chargers built for solar and battery setups can offer solar surplus charging, dynamic load balancing, app-based monitoring, scheduled off-peak top-ups, and full smart home integration. The end result is a tightly connected home where your hot water, heating, lights, and car all run on the same clean Tasmanian electricity.

Why Your EV Charger Installation Needs a Licensed Electrician

Wiring in an EV charger is licensed work, which means you need a qualified EV charger installation electrician to connect it safely to your home’s electrical system. Expert Energy Tasmania handles complete EV charger installation for Hobart homes, including charger supply and fitting, solar-integrated charging, switchboard upgrades, load management, electrical compliance, and full setup before we leave the driveway.

Our team has installed chargers in older Hobart cottages, new builds in Kingston, and everything in between, so we know how to tailor the install to your home rather than the other way around.
